Is there an app that tells you what skincare to use?
Yes. MyAgenix is a skincare app that tells you which products to use, and it runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to download from an app store.
You take three photos and answer a few questions. MyAgenix reads how your skin looks across eight concerns, then builds a morning and evening routine with specific products chosen for your skin, your goals and your budget, with the reason for every pick.
Do I need to download anything?
No. MyAgenix works in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a laptop. On a phone you can add it to your home screen in three taps, and it then opens full screen with its own icon, like any other app. There is no app store listing because there is nothing to install.
What does the MyAgenix app do?
- Reads three photos and your answers, and scores eight skin concerns so you can see where to focus.
- Builds a morning and evening routine, in the order to use it, with a reason for each product.
- Chooses from hundreds of products across high street brands, at the budget you set, and leaves out anything you want to avoid.
- Compares two products, or checks one you scan on the shelf, against your own consultation.
- Keeps a diary of your consultations so you can look back and compare, and offers an optional meal planner.
How does MyAgenix compare with other ways to choose skincare?
People looking for help usually find one of three other options. Each is good at something, so here they are side by side, including what they do better.
| MyAgenix | Product scanner apps | Brand quizzes | In-store consultations | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starts from | Photos of your skin and your answers | A product you scan or search for | Your answers to a short quiz | A conversation at the counter |
| Products it chooses from | Hundreds of products across many high street brands | A large database of products | One brand’s own range | Usually what that shop or counter sells |
| Tells you what to use | Yes, a full morning and evening routine | Mostly no: it checks a product you already have in mind | Yes, from that brand only | Yes, from what is on the shelf |
| Explains each pick | Yes, a reason for every product | Shows the ingredients and flags | Sometimes | Depends on the person |
| Download needed | No, it runs in the browser | Usually, from an app store | No | No, but you need to go in |
| Account needed | Yes, to keep your photos private | Often optional | Often not | No |
What the alternatives do better
- Product scanner apps
- They cover far more products and give a quick ingredient breakdown for almost anything with a barcode, which is ideal when you already know what you want and just want to check it.
- Brand quizzes
- They take a minute, need no photos and no account, and if you already love a brand they know its range in more depth than anyone else.
- In-store consultations
- A person can see your skin in real light, let you try textures on your hand and answer follow-up questions on the spot.
Who MyAgenix is not for
MyAgenix needs an account and three photos, which not everyone wants to share. It is for adults aged 18 and over. And if something on your skin worries you, an app is the wrong place to start: see a pharmacist or your GP.
MyAgenix offers cosmetic guidance to help you choose products. It is not a medical service and does not diagnose or treat any condition. Your data is stored securely in the EU, you stay in control, and you can delete it at any time.
